You know what I’ve been thinking? Celtics’ broadcaster Mike Gorman once said that Larry Bird did one thing per game that “really spun your head around.” Well, that’s Alex Jackson in track and field meets.
The Peabody Tanner did it again in the MIAA Division 2 Track and Field Championship this past Friday at Reggie Lewis. He set meet and personal records in the shot put with a 60-06.00 throw.
The scary part is: it could improve.
“We’re still building and we hope for continued improvement through the rest of the championship season,” said throwing coach Jay Smith. “The sky’s the limit.”
Jackson led the Tanners to a 40-point, fourth-place finish, but individually, and according to Athletic.net, he ranks No. 1 in Massachusetts and No. 13 in the country.
Not bad, especially for a junior.
Alex, good week.
